Apple iCloud
Connect your Apple iCloud account to sync calendars and contacts with Meridian
Meridian connects to Apple iCloud to sync your calendars and contacts using standard CalDAV and CardDAV protocols.
What Syncs
- iCloud Calendar – Events across all of your iCloud calendars (via CalDAV)
- iCloud Contacts – Your full contact list (via CardDAV)
Setup
Connecting iCloud requires an app-specific password. Apple does not allow third-party apps to use your main Apple ID password directly.
Generate an App-Specific Password
- Go to appleid.apple.com.
- Sign in and navigate to Sign-In and Security.
- Select App-Specific Passwords.
- Click Generate and give the password a label (e.g., “Meridian”).
- Copy the generated password.
Connect in Meridian
- In Meridian, go to Settings > Connections.
- Click Add Connection and select Apple iCloud.
- Enter your Apple ID email and the app-specific password you just generated.
- Click Connect.
Your iCloud calendars and contacts will begin syncing immediately.
How It Works
Meridian uses standard CalDAV and CardDAV protocols to sync directly with Apple’s servers. These are well-established, open standards for calendar and contact synchronization, ensuring reliable and compatible data exchange.
Sync Behavior
Meridian uses RFC 6578 (WebDAV Sync) for efficient incremental synchronization. After the initial full sync, only items that have changed since the last sync are transferred. This minimizes bandwidth usage and keeps sync fast.
Note on Email
iCloud Mail is not currently supported through this integration. Support for iCloud Mail via IMAP is planned for a future release.
